If so, then this Dosti Group is for you!
As an initiative of the Alliance for South Asian AIDS Prevention (ASAAP), our Dosti Group is being revived and this is a callout to all those who are interested! Dosti is a peer support and social group that once served many South Asian GBTQQ men and gave them a sense of community that is often hard to find. We are bringing it back to help facilitate social networking and provide needed support to South Asian men of all ages.
Our first event will be held in April 2009. Event locations will not be posted on the site for reasons pertaining to confidentiality but will be emailed out to everyone on a mailing list. Also be sure to find Dosti on Facebook and stay on top of upcoming events that way!
Social events may include pot lucks, dinner in the Village, bowling night, movie events, skating, picnics, Village tours, a sex toy workshop, Pride projects, etc. Of course, we are open to suggestions from the group as well!
All support group meetings will be held in a confidential setting as to provide a non-judgmental and welcoming environment for all. The discussion topic schedule will be posted on our home website at www.dosti.ca shortly following the first meeting. Not all topics will be set-in-stone but will rather take on the demands of what people want to discuss. We plan to have a “Questions from a Hat Night” that lets everyone ask questions discretely for open forum discussion. This could be a great time to dispel myths or ask questions about sex that you’re not comfortable asking openly.
